Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Hydraulic Engineer to join our Water & Food Security sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing water management systems, hydraulic structures, and irrigation solutions to optimize water resources for agricultural and community development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop hydraulic solutions for water supply and distribution, wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs and dams, and irrigation systems.
- Definition of TOR’s and RFQ’s for engaging with suppliers, contractors or design companies.
- Responsible for the work with designers (incl. supervision, control and review of the designs), from general/conceptual design to executive/detailed design.
- Support business development by assessing client needs and designing hydraulic solutions.
- Lead technical aspects of project proposals, including concept development and cost analysis.
- Perform advanced hydraulic calculations and modeling to determine system needs.
- Review and validate technical documentation, including APDs and BOMs from consulting partners.
- Partner with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to integrate hydraulic systems into broader projects.
- Conduct field assessments and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems, providing optimization recommendations.
- Keep updated with industry innovations and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required. Master's in Hydraulic Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 7-10 plus years of experience in hydraulic engineering with industry or consulting background.
- Expert knowledge in designing, testing and implementing hydraulic systems design as well as understanding of fluid mechanics principles.
- Mastery of hydraulic modeling software and CAD tools.
- Strong analytical skills with thorough understanding of engineering standards and regulations.
- Excellence in team collaboration and client communication.
- Meticulous attention to detail in technical documentation and calculations.
- Proven project management abilities and deadline-driven mindset.
- Experience with environmental impact assessments and water resource management strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English; knowledge of French, or Spanish is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
