About the Role:
We are seeking an Engineer to join our team in West Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a results-oriented mindset, and a commitment to integrity and high professional standards. This hands-on role requires extensive experience in project planning, design review, technical coordination, and support across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, meet client requirements, and comply with quality, safety, and budgetary standards.
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Define and update technical requirements for project design, taking into account legal standards and guidelines combined with client requests.
- Verify and review project designs in progress to ensure compliance with legal and internal standards, as well as client requirements.
- Review and approve project designs before submission to the client/site.
- Develop and manage project technical documentation.
- Coordinate and assist with equipment testing: FAT and SAT (if applicable).
- Support the Project Manager on technical aspects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate and oversee the W&FSS technical team.
Deliverables / Tasks
- Evaluate a specification document to determine design requirements.
- Monitor project specifications closely to ensure that the overall production objectives are met.
- Participate in client consultations to discuss in detail the scope of work.
- Create new designs and submit them to the Project Manager, Procurement, and subcontractors for evaluation within acceptable technical design standards.
- Track project progress step by step and prepare detailed observation reports to be submitted to the project supervisor to determine whether the project aligns with the initial design.
- Evaluate designs to identify gaps and refine them to improve the final outcome.
- Maintain and update existing technical files and designs, document the design process, and provide progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.
- Assess design solutions against industry standards and regulations.
Requirements
Academic and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BAC+3) in Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Design, or a related field.
- At least 5 to 10 years of experience as a design and project engineering lead on construction projects (buildings or infrastructure).
- Previous experience as a project manager on the contractor side is an advantage.
- Strong results-oriented mindset, with solid leadership and ownership skills.
- Highly motivated and deeply committed.
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, as well as operational and project management principles and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, BIM).
- Aptitude and talent for managing contractual and project requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legal, industry, and national standards and practices.
- Experience working in multicultural organizations.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey messages to clients, manufacturers, and the team.
- Ability to present to stakeholders and management.
- Precision and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office, popular design software, and ERP systems.
