The absence of electricity severely hinders access to essential services such as water, sanitation, education, and communication. As such, electrification initiatives are fundamental to improving urban living standards. Mitrelli Energy aligned with the National Housing Program of Angola, successfully completed the electrification of several centralities in different provinces: (Huambo), Catabola (Bié), Quilomosso (Uíge), Sumbe (Cuanza Sul), Caála (Huambo), Luena (Moxico), Ondjiva (Cunene), Bailundo (Huambo), Caxito (Bengo), Quibala (Kwanza Sul), and Cabinda.

Location:

Angola, Huambo, Bié, Uíge, Cuanza Sul, Huambo, Moxico, Cunene, Huambo, Bengo and Cabinda Provinces.

Impact highlights:

Project
challenges

Housing & Infrastructure Deficit – A lack of affordable housing and basic services limits opportunities for low-income families.
Limited Access to Electricity – Many communities suffer from unstable or non-existent power supply, affecting healthcare, education, and economic growth.
Urbanization & Informal Settlements – Rapid urban expansion has led to informal settlements with inadequate infrastructure, requiring urgent upgrades.

Our solution

To address these challenges, the Angola National Housing Program implemented comprehensive electrification and infrastructure development, ensuring access to safe, modern living conditions for thousands of Angolans.

  • Expanding the National Grid – Connecting over 118,000 people to reliable electricity across 9 provinces.
  • Urbanizing Informal Settlements – Upgrading neighborhoods with power infrastructure, sanitation, and communication networks.
  • Economic & Social Impact – Enabling business growth, healthcare improvements, and educational access through modern energy solutions.
  • Training & Local Workforce Development – 764 local staff trained to operate and maintain the electricity system, ensuring long-term sustainability.
  • Community Awareness Programs – Educating residents on efficient and sustainable energy use to optimize consumption.

Scope
of work
