is the result of an adaptation to today’s advanced technology and aims to promote and make Angolan culture available nationally and globally. In addition, it also aims to make ancestral and new cultures accessible to the general public, with a focus on preserving the past, accessibility in the present and promoting research in the future.
According to the founder and president of the Menomadin Foundation, Haim Taib,
e-Zomba
is intended to attract the attention of researchers, students, historians, musicians, artists and the general public, as well as to show how interesting Angolan art and culture are.
“The e-Zomba
archive will guarantee the most complete documentation and accessibility, which will allow the exhibition to be brought to a wide and diverse audience at national and international level”, highlights Haim Taib.
Belonging to the Menomadin Foundation, in addition to promoting and disseminating Angolan art and culture, the Art and Culture Foundation is also dedicated to the social inclusion of children, adolescents, young people and women in vulnerable situations, through the arts.
The president of the Menomadin Foundation pointed out as an example of the FAC’s impact at this level the Tamar Golan Gallery, launched in 2012, which has already welcomed more than 120 artists, of which around 70% are still pursuing their artistic careers.
At the launch of the project, the Minister of Culture, Filipe Silvino de Pina Zau, stated that the project developed by FAC integrates aspects of Angolan culture, the rescue of values, “a concern that his department has always had”, highlighting that when we talk about rescue we are talking about entities.
“We are preserving something in the sense of cultural belonging to a country that is multicultural. However, it is in diversity that we will find learning for our unity, respect between tradition and modernity, as well as respect between ancestry and future vision”, stated Filipe Zau.
In turn, FAC’s director-general, Naama Margalit, stressed that
e-Zomba
is an opportunity to “digitally preserve Angola’s cultural treasures” for the benefit of the next generation, as well as preserving the honor of the creators and giving the whole world an opportunity to enjoy “this rich culture”.
The CEO of the Menomadin Foundation, Merav Galili, highlighted the importance of the project, since it “will digitize all the assets of Angolan culture”, including music, sculptures, paintings and art. “From now on, everything will be
online
and people from all over the world will finally be able to access the wonderful Angolan culture”, she emphasized.
