Young athletes in Bengo Province long lacked access to a comprehensive, multi-sport facility. Local sports clubs operated in inadequate training environments and often had to travel to other provinces for competitions, incurring additional expenses and facing logistical challenges. The absence of a centralized and inclusive sports infrastructure limited the development of local talent and restricted opportunities for athletes, particularly those with disabilities, to train, compete, and grow.
Mitrelli led the development of the Bengo Paralympic Sports Complex.
Once completed, the facility will enable athletes of all abilities to train and compete locally, significantly reducing travel costs and logistical burdens. It will also serve as a national training hub for Angola’s leading teams across various sporting disciplines, helping improve performance and competitiveness in both regional and international arenas while fostering inclusion, equality, and community pride.
