Youth Villages – Rural Training and Trades Schools

The Youth Villages project targets at-risk rural youth unsuited to traditional educational frameworks, providing them with practical knowledge and skills needed to enter the local job market. Each village offers a 3-year integrated, multi-disciplinary curriculum with specialized vocational studies in agriculture, electricity, carpentry, metalworks, and IT. Students enjoy full boarding-school conditions and a nurturing home environment that fosters vital social skills. Each village accommodates about 200 students and 20 administrative staff, drawn from surrounding areas. Mitrelli ensured the delivery of state-of-the-art facilities, vocational training programs, and hands-on mentorship, empowering students to succeed in their careers and contribute to their communities.

Project
challenges

Rural youth in Angola, especially those unsuited to traditional education, faced limited opportunities for skill development and employment.

Identifying and recruiting at-risk youth and qualified staff, while aligning educational goals with labor market demands, presented significant challenges. Additionally, many communities lacked infrastructure to provide comprehensive education and vocational training.

Our solution

Mitrelli delivered fully equipped and functional Youth Villages as turnkey projects within a 12-month timeline. These villages offer vocational training, practical knowledge, and full boarding facilities.

High-level trainers were recruited to deliver a balanced curriculum tailored to marketplace needs. Mentorship ensured the smooth transition of operations to MAPTSS, fostering entrepreneurship and improving local economies through farm product trade and skilled graduates entering the workforce.
